Color Bars

Adjust and reposition the color bars within the 3D Viewer.

Updated over a week ago

When viewing the results of a simulation, you'll see color bar legends in the 3D Viewer indicating what values the colors shown correspond to.

When you are viewing simulation results, adjust the color bars for the legends shown in the 3D Viewer:

  1. Pick which flow variable you are displaying using the dropdown boxes on the left side of the Visualization toolbar at the top of the page.

  2. Click on the legend in the top right corner of the 3D Viewer.

  3. Set the range to be Global (with the Min and Max set to the lowest and highest values, respectively, of the current flow variable in the entire solution), Visible (with those limits set to the lowest and highest limits of the flow variable on currently visible surfaces), or you can directly type in the limits or use the slider to select them.

  4. Select a Colormap from the dropdown menu.

  5. Select whether the color range should be Continuous or Discrete. If you choose Discrete, you can then set the number of Bins to be between 1 and 256.

Repositioning

The default location for color bar legends in the 3D Viewer is top right (when you have one legend) and bottom right (when there is an additional legend). To change these positions you can left click and hold on one of the legends and drag it to a new location.

Note: These new locations are saved in memory while you are still viewing a specific project, but that if you close and re-open the project later, the legends will return to their default locations.
