Run a Simulation

Run simulations in Standard mode or run immediately with Priority.

Updated over a week ago

With a mesh either generated or uploaded and all required options set up within the control panel (a green check will be displayed next to each setup tab), the Run Simulation button at the top will become active. Clicking this button will launch a simulation and open a new Simulation tab showing the progress of that solution run.

Important: Simulations have a maximum run time of 8 hours before they are suspended. If your simulation has been suspended but requires more run time, initialize from the most recent solution available using the Existing Solution option.

Simulation Options

There are two options for running simulations:

  • Standard (Default) - ideal for simulations with flexible scheduling requirements

    • Previously referred to as "Delayed Start and Save", this option is now the default for running simulations.

    • Simulations using this setting are queued and will start based on resource availability.

    • Standard mode includes the batch processing discount on credit consumption.

  • Priority

    • Previously referred to as "Run Immediately", this option ensures immediate execution of the simulation, subject to resource availability.

    • Priority jobs are executed ahead of Standard jobs in the queue.

    • Simulations in Priority mode do not qualify for the batch processing discount.

To switch between these options, click the settings icon on the right side of the Run Simulation button and select your desired option.

See our Support Policy and Service Level Agreement for more information on wait times. Further details on any associated cost structures can be found in the Service Consumption Table.

Setup Summary

When you click Run Simulation, a Setup Summary dialog box will open by default. Scroll through this to confirm your simulation setup.

Check the Do not show Setup Summary before run box to turn this feature off.

If you've turned this feature off, you can access the Setup Summary by clicking on the settings icon on the right side of the Run Simulation button and selecting Setup Summary.
