Multiphysics Coupling

Learn how to create an interface between fluid and solid domains.

Updated over a week ago

You can create a multiphysics interface between fluid and solid domains. This will allow you to perform conjugate heat transfer (CHT) analysis in your simulation.

Note: The Multiphysics Coupling option will only appear when you have multiple physics created in your project.

Click the + icon next to Multiphysics Coupling, then select surfaces for each side of the interface. Learn more about interfaces here.

Enhanced Conjugate Heat Transfer Coupling

For multiphysics CHT simulations, enhanced coupling is available and on by default. This setting provides greater robustness with a slight decrease in simulation speed.

Note: This option should be switched off for CHT simulations with compressible (Ideal Gas) fluid physics.

To toggle this setting on or off, expand Physics, then click on Multiphysics Coupling. If your simulation has both fluid and heat transfer physics, the toggle switch will appear in the properties panel.
