Check Mesh Quality

Use visualization tools to check the quality of your mesh.

Updated over a week ago

When mesh generation is completed, we suggest using slice or clip visualizations to view internal volume cells to check that the mesh is sufficiently refined in areas of interest. You may also wish to run simulations on an initial minimal mesh (Minimal Count sizing strategy) to see how well it captures flow features and to ensure that the y+ value on surfaces is less than 1.0 in areas where you require boundary layers.

For meshes that contain boundary layer faces that impinge on non-boundary-layer faces, (e.g., symmetry planes) the boundary layers are imprinted on the adjacent surfaces. This improves the quality of your mesh.

If you need to improve the mesh, you do not need to delete the existing one, instead simply adjust the mesh parameters and generate a new mesh.
