Run a Simulation

Run simulations immediately or use delayed start.

Updated over a week ago

With a mesh either generated or uploaded and all required options set up within the control panel (anything vital that is missing will display with a red dot), the Run Simulation button at the top will become active. Clicking this button will launch a simulation and open a new Simulation tab showing the progress of that solution run.

Important: Simulations have a maximum run time of 8 hours before they are suspended. If your simulation has been suspended but requires more run time, initialize from the most recent solution available using the Existing Solution option.

There are two options for running simulations: Run Immediately (the default option) or Delayed Start and Save. Click on the right side of the Run Simulation button to switch between these options.

Setup Summary

When you click Run Simulation, a Setup Summary dialog box will open by default. Scroll through this to confirm your simulation setup.

Check the Do not show Setup Summary before run box to turn this feature off.

If you've turned this feature off, you can access the Setup Summary by clicking on the right side of the Run Simulation button and selecting Setup Summary.

Delayed Start

If you have a flexible schedule where results can be delivered in delayed or deferred timeframes, you can use batch processing and receive a discount. The details of our batch processing discount can be found in our Service Consumption Table.

Batch jobs are scheduled 30 minutes after they are submitted and can have an initial wait time of less than 3 hours. See our Support Policy and Service Level Agreement for more information on initial wait times.

To run a simulation using batch processing, click on the right side of the Run Simulation button, then select Delayed Start and Save. An icon will appear next to the Run Simulation button to remind you that Delayed Start is active. This option will be retained until you switch back to Run Immediately.
