Surface Outputs

Surface outputs are integrated across specific surfaces:

  1. Select which Quantity you wish to calculate, ranging from forces, such as the Lift, to moments, such as the Pitching Moment, to other physical quantities, such as the Total Pressure Drop. Changing the quantity will change the output’s name in the control panel. Additionally, the exact options to set up are different for each quantity.

  2. From the Calculation drop down, choose between:

    1. Aggregate: The reduction takes place over all selected surfaces.

    2. Per Surface: One value is plotted per surface.

  3. Click Edit to add surfaces. Note that you can include actuator disk surfaces.

Notes:

  • For force outputs like lift and drag, you will need to define a body frame.

  • Many surface outputs can be created after a simulation has already been completed, because the values of a range of different quantities integrated across surfaces are saved at every iteration.

  • If you wish to integrate a quantity over a surface that isn't part of your model or mesh, you can create new monitor plane instead.
