Define Motion

Learn how to define motion using frames.

Updated over a week ago
  1. Navigate to Frames & Motion in the control panel.

  2. Click the + icon to the right.

  3. Select Rotation, Translation, Frame or Body Frame to create a new frame. See Frame Types and Properties to learn more about each frame.

  4. Select a Parent frame, then specify Origin and Orientation.

  5. Set the Motion values if creating a rotation or translation frame.

  6. Choose a Formulation (transient simulations only).

  7. Select volumes and surfaces to attach to the frame.

  8. Repeat these steps to create additional frames.

  9. ‍Preview the motion you have defined.

Alternatively, when you select a surface or volume from the Geometry panel, you can add motion in the properties panel.
